KARSTADT NEW GENERATION AWARD
For the second time, the Karstadt New Generation Award will be conferred during this year’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin.
An advisory panel of cultural, media and fashion representatives has nominated four young designers from a pool of up-and-coming Germany-based designers
Mongels in Common, Miroike, Pulver and QED will be showing their latest collections on the catwalk on the first evening of MBFWB FW08 season.
On Monday, January 28th 2008, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will present the Karstadt New Generation Award – an event that will give “young and wild” fashion designers the opportunity to present their collections to a large audience together with the established designers. To participate in the Karstadt New Generation Award, the young candidates had to meet the following criteria:
- be based in Germany
- be between 20 and 40 years of age
- no more than 5-6 years in business
- create women’s or men’s fashion with a recognizable philosophy
- be able to produce a collection of at least 20 outfits to an international standard without financial support
The winner of the Karstadt New Generation Award will have the opportunity to design an exclusive collection for Karstadt which will go on sale in summer 2008, providing the award-winning label with a platform to publicize its name and collections on a wide scale.
